Czech Republic round-up: Sparta keep Euro hopes alive

AC Sparta Praha retain an outside chance of finishing second after a narrow win at FC Brno.

A penalty from Zdenek Grygera was enough to earn AC Sparta Praha their first away win since last October against FC Brno and keep alive their hopes of UEFA Champions League football next season.

Third in the table
The defending champions are third in the table, three points behind second-placed FK Viktoria Zizkov with two matches remaining. Mid-table Brno frustrated Sparta in the first half, defending well despite the absence of the injured Miroslav Kadlec.

Schuster foul
However, ten minutes into the second half, Kadlec's replacement, the 20-year-old Ales Schuster, was penalised for a foul on Libor Sionko and Sparta defender Grygera tucked away the resulting spot-kick. Sparta had not won on their travels since defeating FK Teplice six months ago.
