Turkey round-up: Besiktas out of title race

Besiktas JK's faint hopes of mounting a title challenge faded with today's 1-1 draw with Gençlerbirligi SK.

Besiktas had an outside chance of challenging Galatasaray SK and Fenerbahçe SK for the 1. Lig crown, but their failure to win at the 19 Mayis stadium in Ankara means that their Istanbul rivals will fight for the title without them.

Their hosts took the lead after 38 minutes through Ahmed Hassan Kamel and it looked like Besiktas would travel back from the Turkish capital with nothing until Ahmet Dursun levelled the scores with just eight minutes remaining.
