Galatasaray SK remain on course to lift their 15th league title after beating MTE Ankaragücü 2-0 this evening.

Sweet revenge
After throwing away the title with a 2-1 home defeat to Ankaragücü at the same stage last season, Galatasaray were out for revenge this time round. The home side started strongly and created a number of chances before Ergün Penbe's free-kick found Emre Asik who fired the opener.

Resolute defending
As the game progressed Ankaragücü's resolute defending continually denied Galatasaray's best efforts, until six minutes from time when Erdem Arif was brought down in the area by Uysal Zafer. Erdem held his nerve after being asked to retake the penalty by the referee, but scored again at the second time of asking.

Fenerbahçe maintain pressure
Galatasaray are now three points clear of Fenerbahçe SK with two games left to play. Second-placed Fenerbahçe kept the pressure on the leaders after a comfortable 3-0 win over Trabzonspor. Haim Revivo broke the deadlock with a flying header in the 55th minute. Seven minutes later Fatih Akyel's pass deflected into the path of Serhat Akin who doubled Fenerbahçe's lead. Revivo claimed his second of the game seven minutes from time.

Denizlispor held
Denizlispor moved into fifth place despite being held to as 1-1 draw by Istanbulspor AS, Bülent Ucuncu's eighth-minute goal being cancelled out by Ali Tandogan's header ten minutes later. But Gaziantepspor have not given up hope of a UEFA Cup place after they beat Göztepe 4-0, with goals from Erdal Günes, Halit Köprülü and two from Paulo Sérgio Rosa.

Yozgatspor relegated
At the other end of the table rock-bottom Yozgatspor were relegated after losing 4-3 to Kocaelispor. Two goals from Cenker Aziz in the final six minutes settled the tie after Yozgatspor had earlier taken the lead. Second-from-bottom Antalyaspor's future also looks perilous after they could only draw 0-0 with Diyarbakirspor.

Red card
After only ten minutes they were reduced to ten men when Gurgay Bulut was dismissed. In the 70th minute the referee stopped the game in protest at the crowd's negative cheering and left the pitch. Three minutes later he returned but when the chanting continued he left the pitch for a further 16 minutes before completing the game.

Samsunspor hopes lifted
Elsewhere, Malatyaspor beat Bursaspor 2-1, while Samsunspor eased their relegation worries with a 1-0 win over Rizespor.
