Denmark round-up: Brøndby on the brink

Members

Mads Jørgensen's goal earned Brøndby IF a vital point in a 1-1 draw with FC København on Sunday.

A last-minute equaliser from Mads Jørgensen earned Brøndby IF a vital point in a 1-1 draw with FC København on Sunday.

Only a win
Brøndby, level on points with København but top due to their superior goal difference, now need a win against Lyngby FC in the final game of the season to claim their ninth championship title.

Jørgensen equaliser
København dominated the game and took the lead through Bora Zivkovic in the 35th minute, when he stabbed the ball in from close range. The champions looked set for a momentous win before Jørgensen beat Peter Christiansen to a loose ball, to drill the equaliser into København's net, a minute from time.

Skoubo on target
A single goal from leading scorer Morten Skoubo, his 17th of the season, was enough to give FC Midtjylland a narrow 1-0 win over Esbjerg fB. A win against Viborg FF in next week's game will guarantee Midtjylland a place in the UEFA Cup for next season.

Aalborg in the hunt
Aalborg BK can still sneak third place, however, after they beat the cup holders Odense BK 2-1. Odense took the lead after 15 minutes when Fernando Derveld scored with a header, but second-half goals from Erik Bo Andersen and Allan Gaarde turned the game in Aalborg's favour.

Silkeborg safe
At the other end of the table, a Henrik Pedersen goal secured Silkeborg IF's top-flight existence as they beat fellow relegation-strugglers Vejle BK 1-0.

Århus battle on
AGF Århus moved level on points with Vejle, but stay in the relegation zone due to their inferior goal difference, after beating already relegated Lyngby 1-0, thanks to a Henry Risom penalty. In the day's other game Viborg beat Akademisk Boldklub 2-1.
