Belgium round-up: Antwerp deliver the Goots

R. Antwerp FC inflicted RSC Anderlecht's first defeat of the season with a 2-1 comeback win.

R. Antwerp FC inflicted RSC Anderlecht's only defeat so far of the Belgian first division season with a 2-1 comeback home win courtesy of a Patrick Goots double.

Early lead
Anderlecht were looking for a win to narrow Club Brugge KV's five-point lead, and seemed to be on course when Michal Zewlakow put them ahead on 20 minutes with a deflected free-kick, Glen De Boeck and Walter Baseggio both having already seen headers cleared off the line.

Goots inspires comeback
But the home side levelled just three minutes into the second half, Goots also scoring with a free-kick. Anderlecht still seemed the more likely side to win the game, but were caught on the break six minutes from the end when Goots received a pass from Benny Nielsen before scoring with a deflected shot to give Antwerp a victory that puts them up to eighth place, three behind their visitors.

Louviéroise leave it late
In Sunday's other match, RAA Louviéroise left it until the 87th minute before securing a 1-1 draw at home to KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen. Paul Kpaka gave the visitors the lead on 67 minutes with his fifth goal of the season. But, with time almost up, Michael Klukowski received a cross from the right by Kristof Snelders, and fired in a low shot to ensure a share of the points.
