SK Brann missed a golden opportunity to climb out of the Tippeliga relegation zone following a 3-2 home defeat by Viking FK in a thrilling west-coast derby on Monday night.
Bjørnsson brace
Brann started brightly and looked set to record a valuable win thanks to a first-half brace from Icelandic striker Arman Bjørnsson. The visitors created very few chances in the first period and looked out of sorts against a buoyant home attack.
Viking fightback
Viking were a much more potent attacking force after the break and three goals in a 16-minute spell midway through the second half turned the game in their favour. Trygve Nygaard, Tom Sanne and Erik Nevland all struck to complete a memorable fightback and leave the Bergen club facing a potential relegation play-off against the third side in Division One.
Lost for words
Brann coach Teitur Tordarsson was at a loss to explain why his side let slip a two-goal lead, but admitted that the game should have been put beyond doubt in the first 45 minutes. He said: "We ought to have finished off the game in the first half when we overran them - I simply can't explain why we lost this match."
