HNK Hajduk Split ensured they ended the weekend on top of the Croatian Premier League with a 3-1 victory against NK Varteks on Sunday.
Penalty opener
Hajduk goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa put his side ahead from the penalty spot on 17 minutes, and although Varteks' Danijel Hrman levelled on 44 minutes, Vlatko Dolonga restored the home team's lead before half-time. Zvonimr Deranja completed the scoring in the final minute, as both teams had a player sent off, Darijo Srna for Hajduk and Veldin Karic for Varteks, who are now seven points off the lead in third.
Balaban double
NK Dinamo Zagreb had gone top on Saturday after beating HNK Cibalia 4-1. Boško Balaban scored a first-half double to put Dinamo well on their way, Ivica Olic and Dumitru Mitu adding further goals after the break.
Comeback win
NK Kamen Ingrad Velika continued their fine winning streak with a 2-1 victory at NK Slaven Belupo. Kamen came from behind to claim the points and leapfrog Slaven into fourth place.
Late goal
HNK Rijeka lost to NK Zadarkomerc 0-1 thanks to an 82nd-minute Dragan Blatnjak goal. The bottom two clubs NK Pomoracc and HNK Šibenikk drew 1-1.
