Double blow
Di Natale is expected to return on 12 January, when the Serie A season resumes after the Christmas break, and will miss the matches against AC Milan, Udinese Calcio, Modena FC and Atalanta BC. His absence will be a major blow to coach Silvio Baldini following the loss to injury of striker Luca Saudati. The former Milan man is out for the season after breaking his leg against S.S. Lazio earlier this month.
International debut
Di Natale, 25, has scored eight goals in eleven league games for promoted Empoli. His reward came with an international debut for the Azzurri in the recent friendly against Turkey. Empoli are seventh in Serie A and face leaders Milan on Sunday.
