Georgian Revaz Dzodzuashvili last night signed a two-year contract with an option of another season to coach Russian Premier-Liga side FC Alania Vladikavkaz.
Successful spell
Dzodzuashvili was recently in charge of FC Uralan Elista. He spent a successful few months at the club, helping Uralan avoid the relegation which had looked a possibility under the previous coach, Sergey Pavlov. However, Dzodzuashvili stood down at the end of the season and was replaced by Igor Shalimov.
Georgian association
Alania are a club well used to Georgian personnel. Situated in the Russian republic of North Osetia, which neighbours Georgia, Alania fielded Mikheil Ashvetia, Georgi Demetradze and Grigol Imedadze last season, while Vladimir Gutsaev coached the club in 1999.
National coach
A former coach of the Georgian and Latvian national teams, Dzodzuashvili has also taken charge of FC Dinamo Tbilisi, FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi and FC Torpedo Kutaisi in his homeland. He represented Dinamo as a player and is a former Soviet international.
