FC Dinamo Tbilisi have opened a four-point gap at the top of the Georgian Premier League after a 2-1 defeat of FC Merani-91 Tbilisi.
Top six
With two games to be played in the first stage of the championship, Dinamo, FC Torpedo Kutaisi, FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi, FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi, FC Sioni Bolnisi and FC Kolkheti-1913 Poti have made the top six and will fight it out for the title.
Decisive factor
Striker Rati Aleksidze proved the decisive factor for Dinamo, opening the scoring on 72 minutes and striking the winner at the death after Georgi Kadabidze had equalised.
Lokomotivi point
Defending champions Torpedo, meanwhile, could only manage a 1-1 draw with Lokomotivi. Shota Babunashvili put the home side ahead in the first half but Davit Tchitchveishvili hit back after the interval, earning the visitors a point.
Metalurgi waltz
FC Metalurgi Zestaponi brushed aside FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi with Kakhaber Berelidze and Levan Melkadze both hitting doubles.
Mixed bag
Kolketi-1913 and Bolnisi, both of whom have already ensured a place in top six, enjoyed mixed fortunes; the former losing 3-0 to to FC Dila Gori, the later held to a scoreless draw by FC Gorda Rustavi.
