Fifth coach since 2000
Faizulin becomes the seventh coaching appointment in the Premier-Liga during the close season, and Rotor's fifth coach since 2000. Salkov quit a few days ago claiming he could not stay in Volgograd for family reasons and would be moving to Moscow. He had joined Rotor at the start of the 2002 season from the Uzbekistan national team.
Loyal servant
Faizulin will need no introduction the role, having spent the last 15 years with Rotor, including a spell as caretaker coach in 1992. That followed Viktor Papaev's resignation and in his time in charge Rotor won 12 of their 21 league fixtures.
Exodus of talent
Rotor finished last season in ninth place in the Premier-Liga but the close season has not been a happy one, bringing the departures of several key players. Russian Under-21 striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, goalkeeper Andrei Chichkin and defender Albert Borzenkov have all left the club.
