Article body
VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have signed Yugoslavian midfield player Darko Anic on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Former Brugge player
The 28-year-old arrives from KAA Gent, where he spent 18 months after joining from another Eerste Klasse club, Club Brugge KV. The former Yugoslavian Under-21 international, who began his career at FK Vojvodina and also played for FK Crvena Zvezda, is looking forward to a new challenge in the 1. Bundesliga, where Mönchengladbach sit fourth from bottom.
'Time to move'
"It was time to move on from Belgium football," Anic said. "Six years was a long time. I did my best and I have the best memories, but I am certain I can give much more now."
Advice from Lorant
Anic accepted Mönchengladbach's offer after consulting his close friend Werner Lorant, the former Fenerbahçe SK coach. "I know a lot about German football, but Lorant helped me decide for Mönchengladbach, thinking it was the best environment for me," he said.
