VfL Wolfsburg have signed Argentinian defender Pablo Quatrocchi from Club Estudiantes de La Plata.

German 1. Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have signed Argentinian defender Pablo Quatrocchi from Club Estudiantes de La Plata.

Contract until 2005
The 28-year-old has signed on a two-and-a-half year contract and will join his new team-mates in Portugal where they are currently preparing for the restart of the Bundesliga campaign on 25 January.

'Strong in the air'
Wolfgang Wolf, the Wolfsburg coach, said: "Quatrocchi is strong in the air and used to playing in a four-man defence, so he should fit well into our team."  Peter Pander, the club's general manager, said: "We were interested in him last summer and are very happy we could sign him now."

Follows Thiam
Quatrocchi is Wolfsburg's second defensive reinforcement of the winter, following the arrival of Pablo Thiam from FC Bayern München. Wolfsburg entered the winter break in Germany in tenth place in the 18-team Bundesliga.
