Piacenza FC goalkeeper Matteo Guardalben has been ruled out of action for up to eight weeks after a scan revealed the 29-year-old had suffered a strain to his right thigh.

Orlandoni steps in
Guardalben, who joined Piacenza from AC Parma in 2001, will be replaced by 31-year-old reserve goalkeeper Paolo Orlandoni who has had spells at Bologna FC, Reggina Calcio and S.S. Lazio.

Cagni strengthens squad
Piacenza coach Luigi Cagni moved quickly to strengthen his squad ahead of the Serie A clash at Internazionale FC on Sunday, with the signing of former Cagliari Calcio goalkeeper Maurizio Franzone.

Beach to pitch
The 34-year-old Franzone, who has made only four Serie A appearances in his career, has been playing for the Italy Beach Soccer team since leaving Reggina at the end of last season.
