Bahri Kaya has resigned as coach of Turkish Super League team Adanaspor AS following the team's 2-1 home defeat against Göztepe at the weekend.
'Need for change'
"I decided the club needed a change," said Kaya in a statement. "Last year when there were 14 matches to be played I started my job. I guided the team to the promotion from the second division, and continued my job the next year."
Change of direction
However, Kaya admitted that he had been powerless to act during the club's recent run of poor results and that he felt the team would best benefit from a change of leadership. "We parted company in a friendly way," he said.
Poor form
Adanaspor are currently 16th in the table with 19 points, but are without a win since the second half of the season began at the end of January.
