Servette FC coach Roberto Morinini has been sacked after eight months in charge following a disappointing run of results.
'Immediate effect'
"Servette have separated with coach Roberto Morinini with immediate effect," the club said in a statement. Morinini's successor is expected to be announced later today.
Eighth place
The 51-year-old Morinini moved to Servette from FC Lugano to replace Lucien Favre last summer, but the Geneva club are currently bottom of the eight-team standings after scraping into the championship pool.
Historic day
Servette drew 1-1 with BSC Young Boys on Sunday as the club's new Stade de Genève was opened in front of a sell-out 30,000 crowd.
