Hoffmann levels
MTK cruised into a 2-0 lead by the 24-minute mark with goals from Péter Czvitkovics and Brazilian Welton da Silva. But György Tóth pulled one back on 34 minutes and Richárd Hoffmann levelled the scores in added time. Generous MTK coach Sándor Egervári paid tribute to his opponents after the game, saying: "Congratulations to the home side, they were our equals thanks to their second-half performance."

Gap closed
Ferencváros closed the gap after a 5-2 victory against Györi ETO FC. Striker Attila Tököli scored twice, while Zsolt Bognár, Leonardo and Jószef Keller also scored for Ferencváros, who now lead third-placed Debreceni VSC by nine points following that side's 1-1 draw at Siófok FC.

Videoton remain on form
Elsewhere, Videoton FC Fehérvár's winning form under new coach Bertalan Bicskei continued with a 3-0 win against reigning champions Zalaegerszegi TE, while Újpesti TE beat struggling Kispest Honvéd FC 4-1 in the Budapest derby and MFC Sopron gained a valuable 4-1 win against fellow strugglers Dunaferr SE.
