Tight at the top
Both sides have 41 points following the 18th round of matches in the Hungarian First Division, although Ferencváros have retained first place thanks to a marginally better goal difference.

Ferencváros falter
The leaders slipped to a 2-0 defeat at fourth-placed Debreceni VSC, who took the lead after 33 minutes with a goal from Romanian striker Sabin Ilie. The away side pushed forward after the interval and created a number of clear goalscoring opportunities but were unable to take any, and Debrecen defender László Éger sealed the win a minute from time with a penalty.

Important win
Meanwhile, MTK stepped up the pressure at the top with a 2-1 home win against Kispest Honvéd FC. First-half goals from Roland Juhász and Brazilian striker Welton da Silva put MTK in command and, although Kispest pulled a goal back a minute past the hour through Under-21 international forward Sándor Torghlelle, the home side held on for three important points.

Late equaliser
Third-placed Újpesti TE lost further ground on the top two as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Siófoki BSE. Zoltán Fülöp put the away side in front after 68 minute, but Újpest defender Zoltán Tamási salvaged a point for the home side with an equaliser ten minutes before the final whistle.

ZTE held
Elsewhere, Györi ETO FC took a 47th-minute lead against Zalaegerszegi TE with a penalty from forward Krisztián Kenesei, but Györ midfield player Károly Szanyó equalised 15 minutes from time to earn the visitors a point.

Relegation tussle
Videoton FC Fehérvár won an exciting game at home to MFC Sopron 3-2 with goals from Tibor Pomper, Zsolt Dvéri and Tamás Szalai. Bojan Lazic and Mihály Tóth were on target for the away side. Finally, in the meeting of the bottom two, Dunaferr SE moved above Békéscsabai EFC with a 3-0 win thanks to two goals from Jovan Drobnjak and one from Balázs Nikolov.
