Besiktas JK returned to the top of the Turkish Super League following a 2-0 win against Fenerbahçe SK in the Istanbul derby.
Early lead
Striker Pascal Nouma gave Besiktas the lead after only eight minutes but the home team had to wait until the 64th minute to double their advantage when Sergen Yalçin controlled Oscar Córdoba’s goal-kick before chipping the ball over goalkeeper Rüstü Reçber.
Narrow win
Galatasaray SK had briefly moved top of the table after recording a narrow 1-0 victory against lowly Göztepe, with Ali Lukunku scoring the only goal of the game on 68 minutes following a Haim Revivo cross. Third-placed Gençlerbirligi SK eased to a 2-0 win over troubled Elazigspor. Filip Daems gave the Istanbul side the lead on 15 minutes and Bülent Karaman completed the scoring in the 54th minute.
Kolgu double
Diyarbakirspor defeated Trabzonspor 2-0 to follow up their surprise midweek win against Besiktas. Two second-half goals from captain Deniz Kolgu were enough to give the mid-table side victory. Kolgu scored his first goal from a penalty on 54 minutes after Murat Hacioglu was fouled by Erman Güraçar. The home side went further ahead ten minutes later when the same player scored with a firm shot following a Murat Hacioglu pass.
Isler winner
Istanbulspor AS strengthened their mid-table position with a 1-0 win against MKE Ankaragücü, with the only goal of the game coming from Cenk Isler on 74 minutes. Samsunspor were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Malatyaspor. Hakki Das put Samsunspor ahead on nine minutes only for Mert Korkmaz to equalise six minutes later.
Ates hat-trick
Bottom side Kocaelispor suffered to a 3-0 home defeat by Gaziantepspor while Adanaspor AS ran out 5-2 winners against fellow-strugglers Altay GK, with Necati Ates scoring a hat-trick. Bursaspor overcame Denizlispor 2-0 through goals from Ömer Kiliç and the club’s top scorer Okan Yilmaz.
