Serbia and Montenegro round-up: Popovic provides the heroics

Members

Lazar Popovic gave FK Čukarički a survival lifeline with a last-gasp winner against FK Sutjeska.

A last-gasp goal from Lazar Popović wrapped up a precious 2-1 victory for FK Čukarički against FK Sutjeska and kept alive their hopes of avoiding relegation.

Late winner
Čukarički had trailed to Nikola Nikezić's 27th-minute opener but Zoran Djurišić restored parity from the penalty spot and Popovic popped up on 89 minutes to steal all three points.

Magic Mitrović
Another side languishing in the drop zone is FK Rad - but they also recorded a victory, beating FK Vojvodina 2-0 with a double from Dalibor Mitrovic to stay four points ahead of Čukarički.

Ramović seals it
The strugglers' wins increased the pressure on FK Radnički Obrenovac, who now sit just one place above the relegation places after their 3-1 defeat at the hands of FK Sartid, for whom Demir Ramovic's 88th-minute goal sealed the win. Sartid are almost certain to retain their top-flight status after the victory, as are FK Zemun, who registered the same score against FK Zeta.

Champions roll on
Elsewhere, champions FK Partizan continued their success with a 1-0 win over FK Obilic thanks to a goal from Zvonimir Vukic. FK Crvena Zvezda look assured of a UEFA Cup place after seeing off FK Javor by a solitary goal. Zvezda are six points clear of OFK Beograd, who also managed 1-0 a win over FK Rudar.

Spoils shared
In the day's other matches, bottom side FK Radnički Niš lost 2-1 to FK Železnik, while the match between FK Mogren and FK Hajduk Kula ended in a 1-1 draw.
