Rangers FC secured the domestic treble with a 1-0 win against Dundee FC in the Scottish Cup final.

Rangers FC secured the domestic treble as a Lorenzo Amoruso header earned a 1-0 win against Dundee FC in the Scottish Cup final.

Headed winner
The Italian defender headed a Neil McCann cross into the net in the 66th minute to seal victory in front of 47,136 spectators at Hampden Park to add the Cup to the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Premier League trophies Alex McLeish's side had already won. Rangers have now won the Scottish Cup 31 times, the same number as Glasgow rivals Celtic FC.

European place
Despite narrowly failing to win the trophy for the first time since 1910, Jim Duffy's Dundee side had the consolation of a place in next season's UEFA Cup. Rangers will play in the UEFA Champions League following their championship win.

Bright start
Dundee began the match brightly, and almost took the lead after four minutes, but captain Barry Smith's 20-metre shot hit the post with Stefan Klos beaten. The Rangers goalkeeper was then forced to block a Steve Lovell shot.

Mols denied
Rangers' best effort of the opening 45 minutes came when Michael Mols met a McCann cross with a powerful header only to see the ball strike the crossbar.

Decisive moment
The only goal of the game arrived six minutes past the hour, as Amoruso, who is likely to leave the club this summer, glanced McCann's inswinging free-kick into the net past Dundee goalkeeper Julian Speroni

Crucial intervention
Dundee - playing in their first Scottish Cup final since losing 3-1 to Rangers in 1964 - came close to an equaliser in the 75th minute when Nacho Novo's volley was deflected wide by Australian international defender Kevin Muscat. Rangers were able to hold on, however, to claim the seventh domestic treble in their history.
