Members

FC Basel reduced the gap at the top after they beat FC Thun 4-0 and Grasshopper-Club could only draw.

Basel step up the pace
A third-minute penalty from Murat Yakin gave Basel the lead but it was after the break that the home side really stepped up the pace, scoring three goals in ten minutes. Hakan Yakin headed his side's second in the 58th minute with Australian Scott Chipperfield and Argentinian Julio Hernán Rossi making it four.

Tarone equaliser
Meanwhile, Ribeiro Eduardo handed Grasshoppers the lead in the 27th minute of their match against Zürich but seven minutes later the match was all-square when midfielder Daniel Tarone fired an equaliser.

Servette lose
Elsewhere, Servette FC went down 2-1 away at BSC Young Boys after being reduced to ten men by the sending off of midfield player Fabrizio Bullo.

Chapuisat leaves it late
Gurkan Sermeter gave Young Boys the lead from the penalty spot after just six minutes but less than five minutes later Servette were back on level terms thanks to Mohammed Abdel Kader. Stéphane Chapuisat left it late to grab the winner, hitting the target on the stroke of the full-time whistle. In the night's other game FC Wil 1900 drew 1-1 with Neuchâtel Xamax FC.
