Article body
Besiktas JK remained top of the Turkish Super League with a 2-0 home win against Altay GK.
Besiktas make the breakthrough
Besiktas struggled to break down the away side, who had Murat Karakoç dismissed for his second bookable offence six minutes into the second half, but took the lead on the hour mark as Tümer Metin's cross was deflected into the net off Altay defender Ahmet Çagiran. Ahmet Dursun completed the victory with a second goal six minutes from time.
Galatasaray stay in touch
Galatasaray SK remained within three points of the leaders with a 2-1 win at Trabzonspor, who took the lead through Mehmet Yilmaz's eleventh-minute penalty. Galatasaray equalised on the half-hour, also from the penalty spot, with Arif Erdem converting, and the away side sealed all three points in the 65th minute as Elvir Baljic's left-wing cross was headed into the net by Ümit Karan
Blow for Gençlerbirligi
Third-placed Gençlerbirligi SK's chances of claiming a spot in the UEFA Champions League suffered a blow as they were defeated 2-0 at home by Adanaspor AS. It had seemed that the game would end goalless, but strikes from Ümit Aydin after 85 and 87 minutes earned the away side all three points.
Poor run continues
Fenerbahçe SK were defeated 2-1 by struggling Bursaspor, who took the lead through defender Egemen Korkmaz ahead after 12 minutes, who scored with a well-placed 20-metre shot. Fenerbahçe equalised five minutes into the second half through Kemal Aslan but Okan Yilmaz scored the winning goal 16 minutes from time. Fenerbahçe are now without a win in nine league games, their worst-ever run.
Samsunspor success
Elsewhere, Istanbulspor AS fell behind to a Mustafa Özkan goal at home to Denizlispor, but two strikes in three minutes from Uche Okechukwu and Alban Bushaj earned the home side the win, while two Serkan Ayku goals helped Samsunspor to a 4-3 home win against Elazigspor.
Three for Eser
Bottom side Kocaelispor were defeated 3-2 at home by Malatyaspor, with Sertan Eser scoring a hat-trick, while Gaziantepspor were 1-0 winners at home to Diyarbakirspor thanks to Maxim Romaschenko's 62nd-minute penalty, after Ömer Erdogan had been dismissed for deliberate handball, and a Gökmen Baris gave MKE Ankaragücü victory away to Göztepe by the same scoreline.
