Womé welcomed by Espanyol

Members

RCD Espanyol have signed Cameroon defender Pierre Womé on a free transfer from English club Fulham FC.

Spanish appeal
Womé's representative, Pablo Teixeira, said his client "was delighted" with the move, and claimed he had turned down an offer from German side VfB Stuttgart because "he would rather play in Spain". "It was not a matter of money," Teixeira added.

New recruits
Womé, 24, will link up with Espanyol's other new recruits, goalkeeper Erwin Lemmens and midfield player Tayfun Korbut, at the Montjuic stadium. A gold medal winner with Cameroon at the Sydney Olympics, the left-back's previous clubs include Bologna FC, AS Roma, Lucchese-Libertas and Vicenza Calcio.
