Two-year deal
The club's director of football Suat Çalik said that Multescu had agreed a two-year contract. "He will return to Romania to deal with his personal issues and me and a group of officials will fly to Romania to discuss the team's latest condition," he said.

'General revision'
"We are going to decide about our players following a general revision of this year," Çalik added. "Our retired player Ertugrul Saglam and Duro Kriyak will assist Multescu in his job."

Turkish experience
Multescu is an experienced coach in Turkish football, having coached Samsunspor between 1993 and 1997. He also coached Kayserispor, Adanaspor AS and finally Gaziantepspor in 2002. He is known for his ability to save troubled clubs.

Relegation battle
Samsunspor will be hoping improve on last season's domestic performance, when they successfully avoided relegation and finished 12th in the Turkish Super League standings.
