'Few problems'
A two-year contract was finalised today at a meeting between Espanyol's general manager, José Luis Marcó, and Harun Arslan, the 29-year-old's agent. Arslan, who revealed that the player had received offers from two leading clubs in his homeland, said: "There were very few problems in closing the deal. Tayfun wanted to move here - it's important that Javier Clemente is the coach."
Former coach
Clemente was in charge of Real when Tayfun joined the San Sebastian-based team in 2000. Tayfun has made 21 appearances this season but only six times in the starting eleven. He played a full match on Wednesday as Turkey beat F.Y.R. Macedonia in UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying after appearing as a substitute the previous Saturday in the 1-0 victory in Slovakia.
Possible title
Tayfun will become Espanyol's second summer signing. Real Racing Club Santander's Belgian goalkeeper Erwin Lemmens has agreed to join the Barcelona outfit at the end of the month.
