Poor form
McCue won promotion with the club in 2001 and has kept them in Ireland's Premier Division since, but he has now paid the price for a poor run of form. Drogheda have dropped to second-bottom in the table, after four successive league defeats, although he did guide them to the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup.
Temporary charge
"We felt that four defeats in a row were unacceptable and it was time to act," said United director Chris Byrne. "Harry is a nice guy but we have major plans for the development of this club, and we felt the long-term future would be best served with someone else in charge." It is not yet known who will replace McCue but players Pat Scully and Aidan Lynch have been put in temporary charge.
