Israel's assistant coach Yossi Mizrahi has been appointed FC Ashdod coach until the end of the season.

Israel's assistant coach Yossi Mizrahi has been appointed as coach of FC Ashdod until the end of the season.

IFA blessing
The club had been without a coach since the resignation of Elisha Levy, but Mizrahi has agreed to step in until the end of the season with the option of a further year's contract if he settles well at Ashdod. With the national team gathering in Eilat, the Israel Football Association have given their blessing to Mizrahi's appointment and he will begun working at the club next week.

Weekend speculation
Ashdod owner Jacki Ben Zaken approached Mizrahi after Giyora Spiegel turned down an initial offer to coach the team. His appointment ends days of speculation at Ashdod following the 5-3 home defeat against Maccabi Nazareth FC which prompted Levy's resignation.

Appointment confirmed
Ben Zaken confirmed the appointment of the 49-year-old Mizrahi who previously coached Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC and Beitar Jerusalem FC when he said: "Mizrahi is our new manager and will begin coaching the team upon his return from Eilat next week."
