Relegation threat
The result left Modena fourth from bottom in Serie A with 25 points, two points behind Reggina. With three teams to be relegated directly to Serie B this season, the team in Modena's position will play off for top-flight survival against the team in sixth place in Serie B.
Temporary appointment
Modena started the season well but have won just one of the last 18 matches, against rock-bottom Ancona Calcio. During his career, Bellotto has coached UC Sampdoria, Cagliari Calcio, Treviso FC and AC Venezia among others. The 54-year-old coach has signed a contract until the end of the season and will be unveiled to the press tomorrow.
