In the final on 22 May, the UEFA Cup quarter-finalists, who face a second leg against Villarreal CF later this week, will meet the winners of a replay between first division Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and top-flight Dunfermline Athletic FC, who drew 1-1 on Saturday. Celtic are also 17 points clear at present in the Premier League.
Sutton opener
Sutton, who signed a two-year contract extension this week, opened the scoring in the 37th minute when he slotted the ball into the net from Stilian Petrov's knockdown header inside the six-metre box.
Dainty lob
Swedish striker Henrik Larsson doubled the advantage five minutes after the break with a cute lob when he was one-on-one with Roddy McKenzie before Sutton snatched his second 15 minutes later. Livingston substitute Colin McMenamin headed a consolation goal for the Scottish League Cup winners in the 79th minute.
Replay date
The semi-final replay between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dunfermline will be on 20 April at Aberdeen FC's Pittodrie stadium while the final will be held at Glasgow's Hampden Park.
