Three-year deal
Sousa has agreed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed. "He is just the player I wanted," said coach Ewald Lienen of the 25-year-old Portuguese attacking midfield player.
Agali returns
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Victor Agali has returned to FC Hansa Rostock after three years with FC Schalke 04. The 25-year-old has been handed a two-season contract having been released by Schalke after missing training.
Freiburg sign Pitroipa
SC Freiburg have signed 18-year-old midfield player Jonathan Pitroipa. The club refused to comment on the length of the contract or the transfer fee for the player, who comes from the Planète Champion International football school. "He is very talented, quick and skilful," said Freiburg coach Volker Finke.
Van Fessem move
Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag have signed goalkeeper Jim van Fessem. The 28-year-old former Dutch youth international has signed a one-year contract after a free transfer from SBV Vitesse.
Cadu switch
Brazilian forward Carlos Eduardo Castro da Silva 'Cadu' has joined Belgian team KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen from CR Vasco da Gama. The 22-year-old has agreed a 12-month contract.
Barcelona festival
This weekend, the FC Barcelona Foundation will host 'Tot Colors 2004', a five-a-side tournament for clubs formed by Catalonia's immigrant population. The tournament has been devised in conjunction with the Catalan Football Federation, UNESCO Catalunya, the Catalan regional government and other sponsors. Thirty-seven teams from around the region will take part in the competition, with the finals at Barcelona's Palau Blaugrana sports hall on 17 July.
Siena's triple swoop
Finally, Serie A side AC Siena have announced the loan signings of attacking midfield player Davide Chiumiento from Juventus FC, and AC Milan striker Mattia Graffiedi and the arrival of defender Francesco Colonnese from S.S. Lazio. Chiumiento, 19, is a Swiss Under-21 international while 24-year-old Graffiedi has had previous loan spells at Ternana Calcio, AC Cesena, Ancona Calcio, SSC Napoli and AC Fiorentina. Colonnese, 32, joined Lazio in 2000.
