News round-up: Marcello Castellini has joined UC Sampdoria on a busy transfer day for the club.

UC Sampdoria have signed Italian international Marcello Castellini from Parma AC for a reported fee of €800,000.

Sampdoria return
The 31-year-old defender previously played for Sampdoria between 1997 and 2000, making 100 appearances in his four years at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. Meanwhile Sampdoria have let Alessandro Grandoni join Serie A newcomers Livorno ASC and 29-year-old Mirko Conte go to FC Messina on a free transfer.

Milan loans
However, Sampdoria have another new arrival in the shape of 22-year-old midfield player Marco Donadel, part of Italy's victorious 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship squad. He has moved on loan from AC Milan, having spent last season at Parma. Milan have also loaned 22-year-old striker Marco Borriello to Reggina Calcio.

Sculli switch
One of Donadel's U21 team-mates, 23-year-old striker Giuseppe Sculli, has signed for Brescia Calcio from AC Chievo Verona. Sculli is half-owned by Juventus FC. In his place Chievo have signed forward Simone Tiribocchi from Serie B side Torino Calcio on a four-year deal.

Toyes move
Belgian team RAA Louviéroise have announced the signing of French defender Geoffrey Toyes. The 31-year-old defender has signed a 12-month deal, having been out of contract at French Ligue 2 side AS Nancy-Lorraine.

Dutch transfer
In the Netherlands, NAC Breda have signed midfield player David Mendes da Silva from Sparta Rotterdam. The 21-year-old, who can also play in defence, has agreed a four-year deal after passing a medical.
