Cantaluppi opts for Nürnberg

Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg have signed Mario Cantaluppi from FC Basel 1893 on a three-year deal for a fee in the region of €600,000. Cantaluppi, 30, has been capped 23 times by Switzerland and joins the newly promoted German side after appearing in 215 Swiss top-flight matches for Basel.

Striker Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson has joined Swedish Allsvenskanliga side Halmstads BK from Icelandic Premier League leaders ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar. Thorvaldsson, Iceland's top scorer with 12 goals in 16 games, has signed a two-year contract.

Norway's Viking FK have signed French goalkeeper Anthony Basso, 25, from Italian side Udinese Calcio on a free transfer. "I remembered Anthony from my time as coach of Udinese, and got the chance to sign him now," Viking coach Roy Hodgson said.

Portsmouth FC have completed the signing of Senegalese striker Diomansy Kamara from Italian club Modena FC. The 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the English Premiership side.

Eredivisie side RBC Roosendaal have signed 19-year-old striker Faoad Makhoud to a one-year contract. The youngster has been promoted from the Dutch club's youth ranks and made his league debut as a substitute in last week's 5-1 home defeat by FC Utrecht.

Olympique Lyonnais have sent full-back Romain Sartre to Ligue 2 side Stade Lavallois-Mayenne FC on loan for the season. The 21-year-old played three league games during Lyon's successful defence of their French title last season, but drops down a division to gain more experience.

Lyon's Ligue 1 rivals Lille OSC have released striker Adekanmi Olufadé and defender Marius Baciu, but both players have found new clubs after falling out of favour at the UEFA Intertoto Cup winners. Olufadé will travel to Qatar to play with Al-Siliya for one year and Baciu is contracted for the same period at SC Rot-Weiss Oberhausen in Germany's 2. Bundesliga.
