Hansa reel in Litmanen

Finland striker Jari Litmanen has signed an 18-month contract with Bundesliga strugglers FC Hansa Rostock.

The 33-year-old, who won the 1994/95 UEFA Champions League with AFC Ajax and also played for FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC, has been without a club since leaving FC Lahti at the end of 2004. Litmanen will be officially unveiled by Hansa on Tuesday.

'Huge challenge'
Litmanen, capped 93 times and named this week in Finland's squad for a friendly tournament in Cyprus next month, said: "I want to help Hansa avoid relegation and that is a huge challenge for me. I have not played in the Bundesliga yet and therefore this will be a new experience."
