Litmanen moves to Malmö

Swedish title-holders Malmö FF have recruited the veteran Finnish international Jari Litmanen on a free transfer.

Free transfer
Last season Litmanen tried to help German side FC Hansa Rostock avoid relegation from the Bundesliga and after failing in that quest, he has been available on a free transfer.

'Footballing reasons'
"I chose Malmö for footballing reasons," Litmanen explained. "I've played with Swedish players at [AFC] Ajax and Hansa Rostock, and I really look forward to playing for Malmö. It's a great club that is going places and hopefully I can help the club qualify for the [UEFA] Champions League group stage."

'Great attitude'
Malmö director of sports Hasse Borg is delighted with the signing, saying: "Litmanen is one of the most experienced players we've ever signed. He's a very professional guy with a great attitude and he's not coming here to put an end to his career but to keep it going."

Many clubs
Litmanen has been capped 96 times by Finland, scoring 25 goals. He has played for many clubs across Europe including Ajax, Livepool FC and FC Barcelona.
