Brøndby IF clinched their tenth Danish title in style on Saturday with a commanding 7-0 victory against Herfølge BK. Brøndby, who add the league title to their Danish Cup triumph on 5 May, have 63 points from 31 matches and though second-placed FC København still have two games to play, Michael Laudrup's side can no longer be caught.
Laudrup first
"I cannot say if I am happier with this championship, than I was when winning with Real Madrid [CF], FC Barcelona, Juventus [FC], or [AFC] Ajax - I will just say that this title is different, because I have won it as a coach, the others as a player," said Laudrup, who never won the Danish title as a player despite such a successful career.
Kahlenberg double
Johan Elmander opened the scoring for Brøndby on 14 minutes and after Thomas Kahlenberg had doubled the lead from the penalty spot five minutes later there was no looking back, defenders Per Nielsen and Daniel Agger adding further goals before half-time. Martin Retov made it five minutes at the start of the second half, Kahlenberg added the sixth and Morten Skoubo completed the rout with seven minutes to play.
