Coach reunion
The 25-year-old forward, who scored 21 goals for Strasbourg after joining from ES Troyes Aube Champagne in 2003, has signed a four-year contract with the UEFA Intertoto Cup third round entrants. Niang links up with coach Jean Fernandez, under whom he played during a loan spell with FC Metz in the 2002/03 season.

"I could not refuse an offer from Marseille," Niang said. "I know Jean Fernandez well and he is a good coach. When I was young, Marseille were always my team. I wish the French championship would start right now."
