Bordeaux bring in Denílson

Members

Brazilian FIFA World Cup winner Denílson has signed for FC Girondins de Bordeaux on a one-year deal after a long spell at Real Betis Balompié.

One-year contract
Denílson, who turns 28 tomorrow and this summer obtained a Spanish passport, has been at Betis since his world-record €32m transfer from São Paulo FC in 1998, with the exception of a loan spell at CR Flamengo in 2000 after Betis were relegated to the Segunda División. Last week he opted against joining Turkey's Manisaspor on loan, and has instead penned a one-year contract at Bordeaux, whose general manager is his colleague in Brazil's 1998 World Cup squad, Ricardo.

Promising start
The Ligue 1 side, who only avoided relegation by two points last term, are currently fourth having won three of their four games so far including victories against Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco FC.
