Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored one goal and set up another to inspire SC Heerenveen to an impressive 4-2 win against his future employers AFC Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie this evening.
January transfer
Huntelaar, the Dutch top flight's leading scorer with 17 goals, will join Ajax in January after the clubs agreed a €9m transfer fee on Thursday, but showed no mercy to his future employers. Georgios Samaras put the home side in front in the 35th minute, and Huntelaar struck to double the lead three minutes later. Norwegian midfielder André Hanssen made it 3-0 midway through the second period and Samaras made it 4-0 in the 76th minute. The visitors restored some late credibility through consolation goals from Thomas Vermaelen and Tomáš Galásek, the latter a penalty in added time, while Heerenveen's night was somewhat tarnished by Paul Bosvelt's 90th-minute dismissal.
Groningen glee
Elsewhere, FC Groningen scored three times in the final 18 minutes to overcome Roda JC 3-1 despite falling behind to Andre Oper's opening goal. Danny Buijs, Mark Jan Fledderus and Erik Nevland turned the match in Groningen's favour, however, taking their side into seventh position. Heracles Almelo, meanwhile, struck three times in the first half to overcome SBV Vitesse 3-1, Gert Jan Tamerus getting two goals and Sota Hirayama the other. PSV Eindhoven remained top with 42 points, one ahead of Feyenoord and four above AZ Alkmaar, whose game with ADO Den Haag on Friday was postponed. Ajax stayed fourth on 30 points.
