Le Guen lands Rangers job

Members

Rangers FC have confirmed that former Olympique Lyonnais coach Paul Le Guen will replace Alex McLeish as manager for the start of next season.

Three-year deal
Le Guen has been linked with the job for some time, and ended speculation by agreeing a three-year contract with the Scottish Premier league side. The 42-year old, whose former assistant Yves Colleu has also agreed terms at Ibrox, will succeed McLeish during the summer after the Scotsman announced this season would be his last.

Lyon domination
He guided Lyon to three successive Ligue 1 titles before stepping down at the end of last season, despite club president Jean-Michel Aulas and his players petitioning him to stay. The former Stade Rennais FC coach has not worked since but has accepted the job at Rangers, who were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Villarreal CF on Tuesday. Le Guen should have significant funds to strengthen the squad, however, with Rangers having announced a new sponsorship deal worth €70m last week.
