Løvenkrands settles on Schalke switch

Peter Løvenkrands has rejected the opportunity to stay with Rangers FC after signing a three-year contract with Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04.

The 26-year-old Denmark forward scored 18 goals for Rangers last season, four in the run to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. He had joined Rangers six years ago from AB Copenhagen for a €1.8m fee but leaves the Scottish team on a free transfer. "Schalke are a big club where I want to win titles," he said. "I spoke with [countrymen] Søren Larsen and Christian Poulsen about Schalke and what they told me helped me to make my decision."
