Brazilian Adriano finished from Zlatan Ibrahimović's long ball after 71 minutes before substitute Córdoba doubled his side's advantage in added time. The Serie A leaders were denied a first-half lead when Patrick Vieira's header was nodded off the line by Empoli defender Lino Marzoratti.
