Tomasson's wish
Stuttgart team manager Horst Heldt said: "It was Jon's expressed wish to move to Spain. The loan deal with Villarreal will offer him the opportunity to get match practice in different surroundings and to find his old form again. I'm sure he will too."
Milan move
The 30-year-old Tomasson moved to Stuttgart from AC Milan in 2005. The former SC Heerenveen, Newcastle United FC and Feyenoord forward has played 30 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart - but only four this term - scoring eight goals.
