Jensen returns to København

Danish international Niclas Jensen has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at FC København after leaving Premiership side Fulham FC.

'Great memories'
The left-sided player was delighted to announce that he had returned to the current Danish champions and Superligaen leaders. "I am really looking forward to coming home to the club, the city of Copenhagen, and to the Parken Stadium, of which I have so many great memories," he said. "Furthermore, I am also looking forward to playing more than I did at Fulham."

Fulham freeze
The 32-year-old had not played a senior game for Fulham this season having appeared 16 times in his first campaign with the English club in 2005/06. Jensen left København to join Manchester City FC back in 2001/02 having spent almost his entire career at the Copenhagen club, barring a season at PSV Eindhoven in 1996/97. He subsequently enjoyed two seasons at BV Borussia Dortmund before heading to London.

'Ideal situation'
"We have got ourselves a quality player who knows the club inside out," said København coach Ståle Solbakken. "We now have an ideal situation on the left side of our defence, where a young, talented and hungry player, Oscar Wendt, is going to compete with an experienced, technically skilled and also hungry Niclas Jensen." Denmark coach Morten Olsen recently said that Jensen, capped 54 times, needed regular football if he was to keep his place in the national team.
