Celtic FC have signed striker Scott McDonald from Scottish Premier League rivals Motherwell FC in a pre-contract deal.
'Delighted'
"I'm delighted and it's a dream come true for me," said the 23-year-old Australian international, whose two goals in a last-day win over Celtic famously handed the 2004/05 league title to Rangers FC. "I'm now looking forward to pulling on my boots as a Celtic player from July. My dad's side of the family are all massive Celtic fans and I was brought up in Australia as a Celtic supporter."
Rangers miss out
Rangers failed in a €650,000 bid to land the former Southampton FC, AFC Bournemouth and MK Dons FC forward during the January transfer window and were unwilling to match an increased offer believed to be in the region of €950,000 from Celtic. McDonald, who has agreed an initial three-year contract with the Scottish champions, has scored eleven goals in 27 league appearances for Motherwell this season.
