Point enough
The 21-year-old Senegalese striker has now struck 12 times this season, but none were more important for the Lorraine club than the two he scored in the first 24 minutes of tonight's encounter. A draw would have been enough for Francis de Taddeo's men but the victory means they are 18 points clear of fourth-placed Le Havre AC with just five games remaining.
Deserved success
De Taddeo said: "We were lucky on some occasions this season but for my players I think it's deserved. And for me, in my first season as head coach, it could not have been better." Metz have been top since the eighth round of the season and have only lost two games, leaving them likely to break the record of five for fewest defeats in a second-tier campaign. The title also seems certain as they are 13 points ahead of SM Caen in second place.
