FK Austria Wien have signed 29-year-old Austrian international striker Sanel Kuljic on a two-year contract from Swiss UEFA Cup contenders FC Sion.
Major signing
The 29-year-old, who has scored twice in 13 international appearances, is regarded as a major signing by the Vienna club's general manager Thomas Parits. "Sanel will certainly be a major reinforcement for us," he said. "He is the goalscorer we were after. He is ambitious – playing at [UEFA] EURO 2008™ is his big goal. I think he is capable of scoring between 15 and 20 goals next season." Kuljic previously played for FC Salzburg, BSV Juniors, SV Pasching, LASK Linz and SV Ried before joining Sion last summer. Austria will play in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup as Austrian Cup winners, while Sion will join the competition at the same stage after finishing third in the Swiss Super League.
