Domestic double winners FC Shakhtar Donetsk won their second Ukrainian Super Cup after beating FC Dynamo Kyiv 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after normal time in Poltava.

First-half goals
Dynamo made the better start and, after Maksim Shatskikh spurned a great chance two minutes in, Miloš Ninković burst into the area, beat Igor Duljaj and passed quickly to Artem Milevskiy who placed the ball into the far corner. However, Yuri Semin's team could not build on their advantage and Shakhtar began to dictate possession. Then, after 38 minutes, Darijo Srna's free-kick found Dmytro Chygrynskiy who headed home the equaliser.

Shoot-out heroics

Shakhtar continued to dominate after the break with Brazilian Ilsinho to the fore. The attacking midfielder first had a shot blocked by Taras Mikhalik before hitting the crossbar with a second effort. Shatskikh then had a chance to win it for Dynamo before the game went to penalties. Shakhtar goalkeeper Rustam Khudzhamov, who was making his competitive debut, then became the hero during the shoot-out after stopping Pape Diakhate's shot to help his side walk away with the trophy.
