Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven have signed Andy van der Meyde to replace striker Danko Lazović – who is on his way to FC Zenit St. Petersburg.
Van der Meyde, 30, will have a contract for the rest of the season with an option for a further two years. The former AFC Ajax, FC Twente and FC Internazionale Milano winger has been a free agent since leaving Everton in the summer. Capped 17 times by the Netherlands, he said: "I get the opportunity to play football with a big club. I am very happy to be here. I hope to bring a little extra to the team."
Serbian international Lazović, 26, has moved to Zenit for an undisclosed fee, agreeing a four-year deal ahead of the new Russian season. Zenit begin their Premier-Liga campaign at PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara on 13 March. Discussing the departure of the former FK Partizan, Feyenoord, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and BV Vitesse player, PSV general director Jan Reker said: "Last week Danko told the coach he had an offer from Russia. Fred Rutten was a bit shocked, after which a number of meetings have taken place. After long deliberation it has been decided to let Danko go."
