FC Santa Coloma have been crowned champions of Andorra following a 1-1 home draw with nearest challengers UE Santa Coloma.
Leading the Primera Divisió title race by three points going into the play-off for the championship, FC Santa Coloma knew that only a heavy defeat could deprive them of the title and, despite the best efforts of their opponents, they did enough to claim the trophy and with it a place in the first qualifying round of next season's UEFA Champions League.
UE Santa Coloma began the game at a frenetic pace at the Camp d'Esports d'Aixovall, yet it was their rivals who struck first on the quarter-hour mark with a swift counterattacking move that was finished off by Alex Rodríguez. Four minutes later UE Santa Coloma equalised through Luis Miguel Do Nascimento but that was as good as it got for the runners-up, who also had Josep Rivas Prieto sent off late on.
UE Santa Coloma will be consoled by a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, while both clubs are still involved in the latter stages of the Copa Constitució, the final of which will be played on 16 May.
